The difference and introduction of the two schemes of water cooling and air cooling for diesel generators

Diesel generators play an active role in ensuring the smooth progress of daily production and operation of enterprises. However, our understanding of diesel generators is often limited to power generation. For example, the terms air-cooled and water-cooled are relatively unfamiliar, so what? It is air-cooled and water-cooled, what is the definition of air-cooled and water-cooled.

Air-cooling mainly uses wind as the cooling medium to cool down diesel generators, while water-cooling uses water as the medium to prevent connection, cool down and dissipate heat. The generator has a cooling effect, but the effect of sealing it is higher than that of water, so we still have to consider as much as possible in the choice of these two aspects. After all, who can reduce the boiling point? It cannot be used, and some other things must be added to adapt better, so these two are basically the same.

The biggest advantage of air cooling is that the structure is very simple, the operation is also very simple and convenient, and the air required is relatively small, which can effectively avoid the occurrence of failures and improve the efficiency of equipment. However, there are also some disadvantages, that is, its compounding amount may not be too high, because diesel generators are mainly water-cooled systems, so even if air-cooled is better, it is not as effective as water-cooled, and the efficiency high.

The air-cooled engine cylinder block and the cylinder liner are integrated or bonded into a whole without gaps. The inside is the working area where the piston slides, and the outside is evenly and orderly densely covered with cooling fins, which are generally die-cast with materials with high thermal conductivity. The working heat of the piston team is directly transmitted through the cylinder and taken away by the flowing air between the cooling fins. , this method is generally used in two-stroke engines; the cylinder of the water-cooled engine is cast with complex cooling channels (dry cylinder liner), or forms a cooling channel with the cylinder liner (wet cylinder liner), and the piston is inside the cylinder liner During operation, the heat is transferred to the cooling water in the water channel through the cylinder jacket for cooling. This method is generally used on four-stroke engines. Air-cooled diesel generators generally have low power and low calorific value, and air cooling is enough; high-power diesel generators need water cooling to dissipate heat because of their high calorific value.

The thermal efficiency of the air-cooled diesel generator is high and economical. Since the air-cooled diesel generator transfers less heat to the air, its cooling air volume is only about 2/3 of that of the water-cooled diesel engine. This is because when the gas temperature of the air-cooled diesel engine is constant, the higher the cylinder wall temperature, the less heat the diesel engine emits into the air, the higher its thermal efficiency, the lower the fuel consumption, and the better the economy. Generally, the cylinder wall temperature of an air-cooled diesel engine is tens of degrees higher than that of a water-cooled diesel engine, so its thermal efficiency is higher than that of a water-cooled diesel engine.

The air-cooled diesel generator has a long service life. Due to the high temperature of the cylinder wall, the air-cooled diesel engine can avoid acid corrosion and wear to the maximum extent, and reduce the working time of the diesel engine below the dew point. Therefore, the parts of the air-cooled diesel engine have less corrosion, cavitation, and rust, and there is no disadvantage of accumulating scale in the cylinder head and radiator, and its service life is long. It can be seen that the air-cooled diesel engine has good maneuverability and short warm-up time, which can easily eliminate the burden of increasing cooling water and releasing cooling water. Therefore, air cooling has high reliability, less failure, long life and convenient maintenance.
